A woman was threatened at an Oxford park

A woman was threatened with death after her dog ran over to a man sitting on a bench in a country park.

The victim, a woman in her thirties, was walking through Shotover Country Park with her two children and her dog at around 1.30pm on Wednesday.

The dog ran over to a man who was sat on a bench.

The man then threatened the woman saying that he would kill her dog if it came near him again.

As the victim walked past the man he also made threats to kill her.

The offender is described as a white man, with an Eastern European accent, between 40 and 50-years-old and of slim build.

He had short, dark, greyish hair and was approximately 6ft tall. He was wearing a flannel checked shirt, a dark coloured hooded top that was open and dark coloured trousers that may have been jeans.

Investigating officer, PC Elizabeth Smith, based at Abingdon police station, said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward.

“To report any information, please call 101 or make a report online, quoting reference 43220016001.

“Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.”
